Founder Story – North Wolf

LNorth Wolf was founded by Shannon, an artist, maker, and entrepreneur whose work blends science, craftsmanship, and storytelling rooted in Minnesota’s landscape and cultural traditions. Her path to founding North Wolf is shaped by a diverse background in healthcare education, business administration, project management, and manufacturing, combined with a lifelong tradition of artisan craft.
Shannon holds an Associate of Applied Science in pre-nursing and later earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an honor-based scholarship. Her professional experience includes managing complex projects and working within structured manufacturing and operational environments. Through this work she developed strong skills in process management, quality control, strategic planning, and production efficiency—skills that now guide how North Wolf products are designed, manufactured, and delivered.

Earlier in her career, Shannon participated in training connected to large-scale industrial and manufacturing operations, where she learned the importance of precision, safety standards, and efficient production systems. These lessons remain central to her approach to small-batch manufacturing today. Whether producing artisan soaps, fragrance products, or specialty gift items, she applies the same disciplined mindset used in professional production environments.

At the same time, Shannon was raised within a multigenerational tradition of handmade craft. She learned high-temperature soapmaking and lotion preparation from family members with Scandinavian roots, where practical skills, durability, and frugality were essential household values. That heritage, combined with teachings from her Indigenous community about respecting materials and wasting nothing, shaped a philosophy of craftsmanship built on resourcefulness and stewardship.

These influences eventually led Shannon into the world of fragrance and sensory design. Today she continues to develop her skills as an apprentice perfumer, studying the structure of fine fragrances and creating custom scent compositions inspired by Minnesota’s lakes, forests, and seasonal landscapes. Fragrance plays a central role in the North Wolf brand, appearing not only in perfumes and body products but also in candles, textiles, and gift experiences.

As her artistic practice evolved, Shannon began focusing on mixed-media storytelling and sculptural design, using encaustic techniques, embedded materials, and symbolic imagery to explore themes of place, heritage, and celebration. This creative direction expanded naturally into product design, leading to the development of unique items such as story-driven candles, Minnesota-shaped artisan soaps, commemorative artwork, and experiential celebration products.

North Wolf now specializes in luxury Minnesota-themed gifts designed for life’s most meaningful moments. The company’s products are created for weddings, anniversaries, graduations, milestone birthdays, promotions, and recognition ceremonies—events where people want gifts that feel personal, memorable, and rooted in place.

Shannon’s approach to working with clients is simple: listen first, then create. She believes that the best gifts are those that reflect the story of the people celebrating them.
