Soap Bars

Unlike traditional cold-process soap, which typically requires several weeks before it is ready for use, our artisan soaps are made using a high-temperature hot-process method passed down through our family. The soap is fully saponified during the cook—usually within about an hour—so it is ready to use once cooled and hardened. We add milk near the end of the process to keep the finished soap fluid enough to create the intricate colors, swirls, layers, and artistic designs more commonly associated with cold-process soapmaking.

Although the soapmaking reaction is complete, each bar continues to naturally lose moisture over time, becoming harder, lighter, and longer-lasting as it dries. A newer bar containing more residual moisture can soften or become “mushy” if left sitting in water or exposed to prolonged high humidity. For this reason, we strongly recommend allowing your soap to dry between uses on a well-draining soap dish.
